Rainbows are God’s sign to us of his beautiful promise.
Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him:“I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.” (Genesis 9:8-17)
Okay, I’m just going to say it…
I hate that the rainbow has been perverted and used as a symbol of sexual sin.
So much in our world has been perverted. That’s how Satan works. He twists God’s word around. He deceives in an effort to destroy.
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became foolsand exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:20-32)
I don’t hate sinners – I am one. I hate sin. We have somehow confused the two. Somewhere along the way we have decided that if we don’t go along with or promote the sin, we are not loving the sinner. That is simply not true! God loves all of us. God hates sin. Sin is revealed so that we can repent. God gives us the grace and power to free us from our sin (whatever it is). Life is full of choices. That is one thing we ourselves control – our choices. God has given us freedom to choose. However, true freedom comes only as we realize we are sinners, repent, turn to God and accept Jesus as Lord of our lives. Then we can truly live in a life of freedom – freedom from being a slave to sin.
So when you see a rainbow, it is not about sex or sin. It is the sign of remembrance of a beautiful covenant from God. Let’s be thankful and give Him all the glory and honor He is due. He is the creator. We are the created.
Sin should not be worshipped, celebrated, honored or glorified. Sin is sin.
Only God should be worshipped, celebrated, honored and glorified. Only He is worthy.

Very well put! Just because we hate the sin it does not mean we hate the sinner. Too many things are distorted.
